One scrapbook primarily contains free-franked envelopes, mostly directed to F.B. Woodruff, but the signatures are not necessarily those of the senders, e.g., John Hancock (p. 186), but also cut signatures, e.g., Washington Irving (p. 446). Laid in are envelopes containing additional signatures (e.g., Millard Fillmore, Edward Everett). The second scrapbook contains a few engravings of New York, a few manuscript poems or exhortations, but is primarily taken up with signatures of 19th century officials in designated counties of Pennsylvania. The third scrapbook contains a list of subscribers to Henry Simpson's "Lives of Eminent Philadelphians" and letters to Simpson about the book. The fourth scrapbook contains cut signatures (including Henry. W. Longfellow, Lucretia Mott, Sarah J. Hale et al.) and 2 letters.
